In the dawn of August 3rd , a flash flood had suddenly rolled in and caused serious damages in terms of human and property in Yen Bai and Son La. Mu Cang Chai district is one of the most affected areas of this disaster with dozens of death and people missing, and up to hundreds of billion loss in public and private property.
To help the suffering people to overcome the current difficulties and stabilize their life, Vietnam National Roofsheet Association along with People’s Committee of Yen Bai province and Mu Cang Chai disctrict, Dong Anh Investment, Construction and Material JSC and An Phuc JSC donated the roofsheets for households who suffered worst damages in the district.
After completing the necessary preparation, on August 15th, 2017, the delegation arrived at Lao Cai commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province to directly handover 4.000 roofsheets for 100 households in the area.
Donating roofsheets is a practical response because most of houses have been seriously damaged after the floods. Otherwise, rebuilding the houses for people to stabilize their lives also should be prioritized. On behalf of the district, Mr. Vu Tien Duc – Chairman of People’s Committee of Mu Cang Chai claims that donating roofsheets is a very practical and effective solution: “The use of roofsheets such as asbestos cement sheets is very convenient for local people due to geography factors. In addition, fiber cement roofsheets are very durable are suitable for extreme weather condition in mountainous areas with heavy rains and strong wind. Moreover, cement fibre sheet is easy to construct and screw onto wood and other soft materials. ”
Promoting the spirit of “The leaves protect tattered ones”, Vietnam National Roofsheers Association has always been actively joined the charity activities with the participation and contribution of AC roof sheet factories in Vietnam.
After arriving at Mu Cang Chai district, Mr. Vo Quang Diem, Chairman of Vietnam National Roofsheets Association said: “When we know the authority of Mu Cang Chai district are supporting people to rebuild 39 houses and relocate other 60 houses, Vietnam National Roofsheets Association had mobilized to donate total 4,000 roofsheets, in which 2,000 sheets by VNRA, 1,000 sheets by Dong Anh Investment, Construction and Material JSC and 1,000 sheets by An Phuc JSC.
In 2010, Vietnam National Roofsheets Association organized a charity program to donate 10.000 roofsheets for people who were affected by flood in Quang Binh. In 2016, the Association also offered 4.600 roofsheets for residents in Tuong Duong and Ky Son district, Nghe An province, as well as jointly build the nursery school in Luong Son commune, Yen Bai province.
