Can chrysotile cause exposion?

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Standard and Consumers Association, stated on VOV Online Discussion aired from 14:00 to 16:00 on April 25th 2015 that: “Chrysotile caused an explosion in Hanoi”.

It is impossible for chrysotile to explode because chrysotile is flame and heat tolerant so it never burns.

Asbestos fibers have been using for over 2000 years. In acient Greek, “asbestos” means “undestroyable”.

Due to its superior characteristics such as durability, elasticity, heat rolerance and, alkili resistence, chrysotile is used widely in more than 3000 types of products all over the world.

Especially, chrysotile is widely used in AC roof sheet production, insulatating materials, auto industry, aviation, pharmaceutical, oil and nuclear, fire protection, textile and other industries.

Therefore, it is impossible that chrysotile causes explosion.
